Starting on The Iterative Life Blog

This blog has been a pretty large focus of my available personal time. As an Assistant Director at a non-profit, a father, and a husband, my time is somewhat crunched. However, I feel this drive to share what I have learned through my drive to optimize my life and the many workflows in it. This blog will be my outlet to share my accumulated knowledge and continue to grow.

Daily focus on exercise

This year, I got into running. I have always enjoyed lifting and have a home gym in my garage. Now, the two are a part of my daily exercise. I usually run for 30-40 minutes, followed by a 30-minute weight-lifting workout. Sometimes, it might just be running or just lifting. Some days, I take a day off and do neither. Regardless, I feel great and am in the best shape of my life at 35 years old.

Home Declutter Project

I decided (with support from my wife) that I wanted to start a decluttering project on our house. I have went through every room in our house and identified "clutter". I am not in the phase of going through each area of the house one weekend at a time and doing decluttering sessions. I have started on the garage and will complete that area before moving on to the next room.

Currently Reading

I am actively reading "Dopamine Nation" by Anne Lembke. I am about 100 pages in and very interested in the content. I went into this book thinking I would see more about social media overload and digital device addiction. However, it seems to be more geared toward other addictions. I think the content is still relevant because a dopamine release is a dopamine release.

I also am about to start the second book in the Wayward Pines series by Blake Crouch. The first one was awesome and I am very eager to get into the next.

Cold plunge/Ice Baths

I am starting a new experiment where I do a cold bath plunge right after my normal shower. I am testing the benefits of cold plunges on recovery, focus, and cardiac health. I plan on doing this for 30 days at least and keep track of my findings along the way.
